million

By January 2023, 220 million people were covered by the Ayushman Bharat scheme,[3] but many do not have access to quality, protocol-based primary healthcare for themselves and their families.

According to a report by Niti Aayog, 7% of the population is pushed into poverty every year due to healthcare expenses.[4] Despite the global acknowledgment of primary care’s pivotal role in establishing a robust health system, India lags, ranking 145th out of 195 countries in terms of quality and accessibility of healthcare. The majority of Indians divert to the pricier private sector for medical needs. Niti Aayog suggests that nearly 60% of hospitalizations and 70% of outpatient services come from private providers. Consequently, the nation witnesses a staggering 63% of its health expenditure being OOP. Such a heavy reliance on OOP payments impedes many from seeking necessary medical aid and pushes 7% of the population into poverty every year due to healthcare expenses.

Healthcare Product for Workers in the Informal Sector

Clinikk has successfully delivered comprehensive primary care to over 1,00,000 patients through virtual consultations and state-of-the-art care centers. Building on this experience, they are now aiming to create a specialized healthcare product tailored to the needs of blue-collar workers and informal sector employees who lack access to high-quality healthcare. Clinikk’s solution aims to supplement Ayushman Bharat by providing top-notch primary care, ensuring that families have a significant portion of their OOP medical expenses covered. This initiative will not only enhance the well-being of workers but also positively impact business owners, reducing absenteeism and increasing productivity.
