SAMRIDH IS A HEALTHCARE BLENDED FINANCE FACILITY STRENGTHENING INDIA'S HEALTH SYSTEMS AND SOLVING EMERGING HEALTHCARE CHALLENGES

Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Delivery of Healthcare (SAMRIDH) is supported by the United States Agency for International Development in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission & Women Entrepreneurship Platform, NITI Aayog, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, the National Health Authority, Indian Institute of Technology, Rockefeller Foundation, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, Caspian Debt, Centre for Cellular And Molecular Platforms, Crypto Relief and NATHEALTH, and is managed by IPE Global. Through this initiative, SAMRIDH combines commercial capital with public and philanthropic funds to drive greater resources towards market-based health solutions that can improve access to affordable and quality healthcare services for India’s most vulnerable.

SAMRIDH has mobilized a capital pool of $300 million to offer both grant and debt financing provision to healthcare enterprises and innovators, to augment their capacity for production and supply of high impact health solutions. This is complemented with a strong technical assistance and capacity building component, enabling enterprises to unlock new sources of capital through blended financing solutions, for long-term sustainability and expansion.

Since its launch in 2020, SAMRIDH has made significant advancements toward strengthening the access, quality, and responsiveness of health care delivery in India. The initiative has been recognised among ‘India’s top 50 COVID-19 last mile responders’ by the World Economic Forum. It has also won the P3 Impact Award 2022 led by the U.S. State Department’s Office of Global Partnerships, the University of Virginia Darden School of Business Institute for Business in Society, and Concordia

Catalyse market solutions and innovations to improve access to affordable and quality healthcare services for the vulnerable individuals

HEALTHCARE ENTERPRISES

A CHALLENGE AND A PROMISE TO STRENGTHEN
INDIA’S HEALTH SYSTEM

The COVID-19 pandemic, which has disrupted services and stressed the country’s healthcare sector, has exposed the gaps in the system’s ability to address emerging healthcare needs. The pandemic has also led to the creation of new demand pools and market opportunities. There is an increasing need for new technologies, digital health solutions and innovative care delivery models.

This shift in the ecosystem has brought innovators to the forefront of health systems transformation. They are now recognized more than ever to bring to the table unique propositions to address complex healthcare challenges, and transform the Indian healthcare services.

However, despite the promise healthcare innovators and enterprises hold for India’s health systems, they face many systemic hurdles on the journey from ‘lab to market.’
